In the two affiliated general hospitals, Union and Tongji, there are 2,600 beds altogether.
Each hospital possesses enough clinical departments as required and well-qualified hospital
staff.The most advanced clinical apparatus and equipments at home or abroad can be seenin each
hospital such as Sperconductive MRI,Color Doppler Echo Cardiography, ECT,CT,Micro-Selectron and
Leksell Gamma Knife. In recent years, a new 16-storey building has been completed and put into
use for medical care,teaching and medicinal services in the Union Hospital and a new 14-storey
building for surgery and a new general ward building in Tongji Hospital .Therefore, the conditions
for running the hospitals has been improved significantly and a favourable environment created
for high level and high quality medical care. The staff of the two attached hospitals is more
than 4,200 in number ,among whom over 590 are professors and associate professors. Since 1987,
quite a few advanced new medical and technical services have been performed, 7 of which were
accredited as international leading level,23 as national leading level, 25 being conducted at
first in our country. Futhermore, a wide technical cooperation and academic exchange have been
carried out with the hospitals in such countries and areas as Germany, US,Britain, France,Japan,
Hongkong and Macao.
